CASE STUDIES
A company needed help with a venture capital white paper. Seeking funding for a new software application, they wanted to deliver a killer business case -- they needed angel investors to support their plan. Problem: Client needed a white paper to walk potential investors down a road to "yes" -- the potential for success was obvious to the engineers and others versed in complex software terminology, but not to lay people -- and angel investors sometimes are lay people. They have funds, but not necessarily the expertise found in the minds of a software powerhouse. Action: Client had a draft of the paper, but was so close to the product that they needed a new set of eyes to pull key facts together and eliminate unnecessary content. Write Side of Business honed in on the goal and assisted client in eliminating the unnecessary simultaneously organizing the content toward specifics that would "sell" the product. Result: "The importance of communicating the value of your business is crucial. You know your business is valuable. You know how wonderful the products or services you offer truly are. However, are you communicating that value to your customers or possible customers? Do you realize how important it is to communicate that value? Action: Serve as editor, writer and publisher with responsibility for research and writing. Research topics of interest to membership audience and other readers with primary focus on increasing value for members. Topics include but are not limited to finance and business issues. Interview key industry executives involved with municipal securities and city governments.

Case Study 3 Pinnacle Nurse Consultants, LLC (PNC), Royal Oak, Mi. -- trained nurse consultants explain complicated medical terminology to legal professionals representing hospitals, insurance firms, and government agencies. Problem: No advertising collateral. No tag line, brochure or advertising flier to offer prospective clients. Initial draft supplied by PNC was not targeted to all audiences legal nurse consultants wanted to reach. Action: Researched Nurse Consulting business. Interviewed owner of Pinnacle Nurse Consultants, LLC and created a flier and brochure highlighting the profession, the expertise of PNC, practice areas and benefits of using PNC nurses in medical investigations. Created tag lines for use in the business – “Reducing the drama and the trauma, both in and out of the courtroom.” Result: The marketing collateral will be used to advertise the new business to prospective clients. Material marketable to multiple audiences: insurance firms, government agencies, hospitals and legal firms involved in medical cases. "I feel very comfortable writing reports that had a medical basis to it, but when I initially wrote my business brochure, I had difficulty expressing this strength from a marketing standpoint. I had the pleasant opportunity to work with Ms. Miehls for a brochure rewrite and the creation of a flyer. Madeleine took the initiative to get my project started in a timely and professional manner. She provided feedback on my brochure and showed me how it could be improved. She maintained contact on the status of my project and provided me with stronger product based on the needs of the business. Should you need assistance with the semantics of your business, I highly recommend the "Write Side of Business." Sandra D. Researched diabetes facts, pulled together statistics on youth fitness studies conducted across United States. Obtained testimonials for the YMCA from youth enrolled in fitness classes and from instructors. Result: Press release published in Detroit newspaper.
